The role of a Security Guard I is crucial in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming atmosphere by implementing security protocols and ensuring the protection of Kohler Co. and its esteemed brand. This is achieved through risk identification, adherence to security measures to mitigate risks, prompt incident response, and minimizing potential liabilities across various domains: financial, physical, and personnel.

A Security Guard I at Kohler Co. serves as a helpful resource for individuals requiring assistance, medical support, crisis management, or local guidance. They act swiftly in emergencies as a vital team member, dedicated to safeguarding the property, guests, visitors, and employees of Kohler Co.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a seasoned Kohler Co. Security Supervisor, a Security Guard I is:
  • Accountable for the protection and security of personnel, customers, visitors, and assets.
  • Tasked with monitoring and authorizing the entry and exit of associates, visitors, and other individuals to prevent theft and ensure premises security.
  • Responsible for warmly welcoming visitors in person to provide assistance or direct them to the appropriate company representative.
  • Required to operate a multi-channel radio across various frequencies.
  • Expected to observe and report any suspicious activities or violations of policy.
  • In charge of managing access control requirements to ensure optimal security levels efficiently.
  • Responsible for accurately interpreting various communications (e.g., telephone, radio) and transcribing information promptly.
  • Tasked with deterring crime through a visible security presence.
  • Expected to develop a working knowledge of Kohler security and fire systems and respond appropriately.
  • Responsible for assisting with special tasks during emergencies or as directed by management.
  • Required to provide transportation services using company vehicles as necessary.
  • Accountable for achieving and maintaining certifications in CPR, First Aid, fire safety, etc.
  • Expected to act as a security and safety resource for other departments and local emergency services as needed.

Physical Requirements

The essential physical requirements for Security Guards include:

  • The capability to transport emergency medical equipment, such as medical bags and oxygen tanks, weighing approximately 50 pounds, from a vehicle to the emergency scene and utilize the equipment effectively.
  • The ability to ascend and descend fixed or portable ladders to access roofs and other areas during emergencies.
  • The capacity to be certified and perform CPR independently, as defined by the American Heart Association, and operate an automatic external defibrillator.
  • The ability to provide clear verbal instructions during emergencies.
  • The capability to legally operate a passenger vehicle or light truck.
  • The ability to stand or sit for extended periods as required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma; a two-year college degree is preferred (fields such as Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration, or Liberal Arts).
  • Experience in law enforcement, industrial security, or Military Police is preferred.
  • A valid Wisconsin driver's license is required.

  • Capability to submit reports on daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment damage, theft, accidents, unauthorized presence, suspicious activities, or unusual occurrences to Corporate Security supervision.

  • Capacity to maintain emotional control and work effectively during emergencies or high-stress situations.
  • Consistent ability to speak in a clear and well-modulated voice.
  • Ability to memorize, retain, and accurately recall information.
  • Capability to multi-task, organize, prioritize, adapt to changing situations, and take appropriate actions.
  • Professional representation of Kohler Co. and Corporate Security to all guests and associates.
  • Maintenance of a neat and professional appearance.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Willingness to work holidays, weekends, irregular hours, or extended shifts with short notice.
  • Proactive in seeking guidance on new situations while offering constructive ideas.
  • Consistency in actions and behaviors aligned with words.
  • Initiative in patrolling facilities as time allows.
  • Willingness to assist others with or without prior direction.
  • Ability to evaluate situations and propose possible solutions and implications of actions taken.
  • Familiarity with property and visitor management programs.

  • Alertness and focus at all times, with a strong emphasis on safety.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range for this position is $20.70. The specific hourly rate offered may vary based on several factors, including experience, education, and work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401k.
