The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Chief of Anatomic Pathology Services. This pivotal position involves direct reporting to the Service Chief and encompasses the provision of both neoplastic and non-neoplastic pathology and cytology evaluations. The surgical pathology component will comprise a significant majority of the cases, aligning with the area of subspecialty expertise.

This esteemed department operates within a comprehensive healthcare system, dedicated to serving a large population of Veterans across a wide geographical area. The facility is equipped with advanced medical technology and offers a full spectrum of healthcare services, including education and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance and quality management initiatives within Anatomic Pathology.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, staff, and leadership.
  • Provide expert advisory, planning, and surveillance services to clinical and laboratory management.
  • Address complex challenges related to unique or controversial aspects of anatomic pathology.
  • Manage autopsy duties and oversee operations in the Grossing Room.
  • Ensure coverage for Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services.

Position Highlights:

  • Standard work hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in both Clinical and Anatomic Pathology.
  • A minimum of five years of leadership experience is preferred.
  • Possession of a full and unrestricted medical license from any state.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required; non-citizens may be considered under specific circumstances.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
