Department Overview: The Public Works Department is dedicated to executing capital improvement projects across a diverse range of City facilities and infrastructure. Responsibilities include maintaining City assets, regulating development activities, and providing animal care services. Position Overview: The City is looking to fill a full-time position for a Landscape Architect/Associate Architect (Designer) within the City Facilities Architectural Services (CFAS) Division. This division oversees the implementation of Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects related to public infrastructure and facilities, such as parks, community centers, libraries, and emergency housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of capital improvement projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Act as the primary contact for project coordination, including design, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Engage with various City departments to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to stakeholders, including committees and the public.
  • Provide technical guidance to other departments, engineers, and contractors.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including reports, designs, and specifications.
  • Analyze architectural challenges to ensure adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor project costs and schedules to ensure alignment with budget constraints.
  • Review consultant work for aesthetic quality and compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage the bidding and awarding process for capital improvement projects.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.

Experience: Minimum of three years of professional experience in the field of Architecture.

Licensing: A valid California driver's license is required.

Competencies: The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong job expertise, effective communication skills, reliability, initiative, customer service orientation, project management capabilities, leadership qualities, and teamwork skills.
