The Director of Library Services at Brazosport College is responsible for providing leadership to the library's collection of physical and electronic resources, supporting the faculty, staff, and students of the college.
The library plays a crucial role in engaging students in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous spaces, and the Director must oversee the coordination of library services to meet the needs of the campus community.
- Reports to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends resources, equipment, and systems related to library services.
- Directs all library activities, including supervision of library staff and conducting annual performance evaluations.
- Coordinates the delivery of library services to students, faculty, and staff in both remote and in-person environments.
- Serves as the campus copyright officer and works with faculty to promote the use of Open Education Resources.
- Manages the library budget and spending, ensuring compliance with college, state, and federal codes, guidelines, and policies.
- Develops and administers the online library environment, providing relevant data and completing annual assessment plans.
- Plans events and marketing strategies to promote library services and provides customer service to the campus community.
- Provides leadership to information literacy activities and creates digital communities.
Physical Demands: Ability to traverse the library and campus, lifting, handling, pushing, pulling, fine dexterity, vision, hearing, talking, and ability to drive to off-campus locations.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science, five years of library experience, excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills, and demonstrated ability working with culturally diverse populations.
Desirable Qualifications: Familiarity with industry-related technologies and demonstrated ability to work collegially with others.
