As a Medication Preparation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate preparation of prescriptions. This includes the meticulous selection, labeling, scanning, and final assembly of medications for the pharmacist's review.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently retrieve medications from storage areas, ensuring accuracy in selection.
  • Conduct thorough checks of final preparations before submission to the pharmacist.
  • Process daily medication orders with precision and in a timely manner, under pharmacist supervision.
  • Assist in the management of returned medications, adhering to proper disposal procedures.
  • Participate in the pre-packing of frequently prescribed medications, including labeling and stocking during quieter periods.
  • Manually package materials and products as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Keep workstations clean and organized, restocking supplies as necessary.
  • Notify the pharmacist of any issues with medication scanning.
  • Adhere to departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
  • Be prepared to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business requirements.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably with long-term care.
  • A solid understanding of both brand name and generic medications.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • The ability to work efficiently at a moderate pace.
  • Reliability and strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical capability to perform light lifting.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and days.
Physical Demands

This role may require:

  • Extended periods of sitting or standing, up to ten hours a day.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, walking, and crawling.
  • Lifting and/or moving items up to 50 pounds.
