Job Overview

Compensation: The starting hourly wage for this role is $13.00/hr, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.

As an Associate Custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment within University facilities. Your responsibilities will include providing custodial services across various areas such as classrooms, offices, research laboratories, and communal spaces. This position operates on a non-traditional schedule, as outlined in the posted shift roster. You will also be responsible for securing building access by locking and unlocking designated areas as per departmental guidelines. Building rapport with occupants and addressing their requests will be essential.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated stable work or educational history with a commendable attendance record.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English to facilitate effective communication.
  • Basic mathematical skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and operate both powered and non-powered floor care equipment.
  • Commitment to enroll in the Building Services Custodial Development Program within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Understanding and adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Capability to lift and transport weights ranging from 25 to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 60 lbs occasionally.
  • Willingness to work outdoors up to 10% of the time in varying temperatures.
  • Learn and execute custodial services in areas such as restrooms, classrooms, offices, research labs, and public spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months of experience in custodial, service, housekeeping, or janitorial roles.
  • Two years of general work experience.

Additional Information:

This position may be filled at either the Associate Custodian or Custodian level, depending on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

All new hires are expected to adhere to established guidelines.
