Job Title: Van Driver

Job Summary:

The Town of Oxford is seeking a reliable and experienced Van Driver to transport senior citizens to various locations throughout the town and surrounding communities. The successful candidate will provide safe and timely transportation, assist passengers with special needs, and maintain the cleanliness of the passenger vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a multi-passenger van in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Assist passengers boarding and departing the bus
  • Provide assistance to passengers with special needs, such as using a wheelchair
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the passenger vehicle and report any operational deficiencies to the Senior Center Director
  • Attend training programs to maintain knowledge of requirements to operate a multi-passenger transportation van
Requirements:
  • Minimum of high school diploma with two to three years of passenger driving experience preferred
  • Valid Class D Driver's License and good driving record
  • Knowledge of operation of van lift
  • Ability to pass random drug and alcohol tests
Work Environment:

The Van Driver will work in a fast-paced environment with occasional exposure to intermittent machine noise or unpleasant elements such as odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt, or grease. The position may involve general cleaning, occasional work at heights or in confined or cramped quarters, or work around machinery and its moving parts.

Physical Demands:

The Van Driver must be able to push up to 300 pounds and work in a seated position with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing. The position may require occasional lifting of objects, including assisting frail elderly to enter and exit the passenger van.

Benefits:

This is a part-time non-benefit eligible position. Local travel is required.
