Summary: The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering comprehensive primary care services to patients across all age groups, managing ongoing health conditions, and advocating for preventive health initiatives. This role supports the Director of Primary Care in ensuring that all patients at Hunter Health Clinic receive exceptional medical care while adhering to all relevant regulations and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts detailed patient evaluations, formulates diagnoses, and creates tailored treatment strategies for a variety of acute and chronic health issues.
  • Delivers preventive services, which include immunizations, health screenings, and educational outreach.
  • Facilitates referrals to specialists and collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Manages a designated patient panel, ensuring meticulous documentation of patient records, consent forms, and follow-up care.
  • Provides mental health evaluations, screenings, counseling, and treatment for mental health disorders, domestic violence, and substance use disorders.
  • Performs medical procedures such as excisions, biopsies, and laceration repairs in accordance with established training and privileges.
  • Assists in the onboarding and training of new medical staff within the Hunter Health Clinic.
  • Participates in on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Collaborates with supervising physicians on complex cases that require advanced diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clinical quality metrics and standards to effectively diagnose and manage health conditions.
  • Travels as necessary to fulfill operational requirements.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Physician Assistant:

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies is mandatory.
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in Kansas is essential.
  • Active and unrestricted DEA License is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is necessary within 30 days of hire.
  • 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a Community Health Center is advantageous.

Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner:

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program is required.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Kansas is essential.
  • Active and unrestricted DEA License is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is necessary within 30 days of hire.
  • 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a Community Health Center is advantageous.

  • Capacity to work in a controlled environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Basic mathematical skills for simple calculations.
