Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to assigned patients by collecting data, identifying deviations from normal, and assisting with reassessments as needed.
  • Accurately document all findings in the patient record and communicate pertinent assessment information with other healthcare team members.
  • Implement nursing care interventions identified in the individualized treatment plan, utilizing accepted standards of practice in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
  • Conduct bedside laboratory tests, wound care, and provide comfort and assistance with ADLs.
  • Promote patient coping, adaptation, and problem-solving related to illness and stressors.
  • Provide supportive communication and culturally acceptable interventions, documenting special needs.
  • Administer medications safely, following facility policies and physician orders, and educate patients on medication administration.
  • Follow up on patient care responsibilities, communicate incomplete assignments and patient needs with other disciplines, and transcribe orders accurately.
  • Utilize nursing knowledge to meet facility, patient population, and staff needs, and enhance evidence-based practice.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a current, valid, and active license to practice as a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse in the state of employment. A high school diploma or GED is also required. One year of inpatient hospital experience is strongly preferred.

You must be able to work in a high-stress environment, assess potential patient escalation, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers. You should also be highly organized, have an understanding and sensitivity to serve culturally diverse and special needs populations, and be versed in basic knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.

This position requires critical thinking, self-confidence, and the ability to think conceptually in leading and directing others. You must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

This role involves occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries, and you must be able to cope mentally and physically with a high-paced and stressful atmosphere.
