Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and driven individual to take on the role of Reservoir Engineer within our LCV Sequestration group based in Houston, TX. This position is centered on steering development strategies for saline aquifer CO2 sequestration initiatives, necessitating technical proficiency in strategic planning, monitoring, competitive analysis, and tactical implementation, while working collaboratively across various disciplines including reservoir, geology, petrophysics, drilling, completions, operations, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reservoir simulation for CO2 injection and monitoring.
  • Understand and apply reservoir simulation concepts, models, and data inputs.
  • Evaluate reservoir characteristics in close partnership with geoscience and petrophysical teams, including aspects such as reservoir thickness, porosity, permeability, and initial water saturations.
  • Assess heterogeneities for accurate representation in simulation models.
  • Analyze fluid flow within reservoirs; determine the size of CO2 plume migration and the extent of pressure fronts.
  • Utilize SCAL data effectively, including wettability, relative permeability, and capillary pressures.
  • Perform compositional modeling and history matching, run predictive scenarios, and assist in the preparation of field development plans.
  • Conduct uncertainty analyses to quantify the expected range of outcomes.
  • Contribute to significant technical documentation that meets regulatory standards.
  • Support upcoming reserves evaluations using both probabilistic and deterministic methods.
  • Communicate effectively with management, subject matter experts, subsurface teams, operations, planning teams, and other key support functions.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and programming skills.
  • Expertise in all aspects of reservoir engineering.
  • Experience with reservoir simulation tools such as CMG, Eclipse, and TNavigator.
  • Familiarity with workflows in Petrel for generating multiple simulation inputs.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with a proven capacity to collaborate and influence peers and partners.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of making sound recommendations with limited information.
  • Excellent time management skills, adept at handling multiple assignments and meeting tight deadlines.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills, experienced in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Clear understanding of business drivers and their implications in development projects.
  • Proficient in technical writing.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, with multi-functional experience being a plus.

Professional/Technical Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 10 years of reservoir engineering experience on a multidisciplinary asset or technology team, with at least 5 years focused on reservoir simulation.
