Job Title: Youth Treatment Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Treatment Specialist to join our team at Wisconsin Community Services. As a key member of our Bakari Youth Residential Care Center, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic support and guidance to youth in our care.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support and supervision to youth, promoting their emotional and behavioral well-being.
  • Implement daily schedules of activities, including teaching and role-modeling skills, group educational activities, and recreational activities.
  • Use evidence-based best practices, such as the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM), to address the unique needs of each youth.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care and support for youth and their families.
  • Document youth participation in activities and interactions with others, maintaining accurate records in our electronic database.
Essential Functions:
  • Serve as a treatment specialist in the milieu, supporting therapeutic interactions and coaching skill use throughout daily activities.
  • Model appropriate behavior, teach and reinforce the use and generalization of skills through a token economy system.
  • Use motivation and engagement strategies to encourage youth involvement in treatment programming and activities.
  • Co-facilitate Dialectical Behavior Therapy groups and other group topics, promoting healthy relationships, independent living skills, and cultural identity development.
  • Organize and participate in scheduled activities for youth, engaging them in on-site and off-site programming, including clubs, school, art activities, recreation, community outings, and field trips.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least one year of experience serving children with mental health needs.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications and ability to use time efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to display cultural competence and respond respectfully to people of all cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors.
  • Valid driver's license, automobile, and insurance sufficient to meet agency requirements.
Working Conditions:

This role requires working in a State-Licensed Residential Care Center, with most work done throughout the building and in the community. Local travel is required, and the ability to provide coverage as needed is essential.

Schedule:

This is a full-time or part-time position, with a flexible schedule that includes a rotation of first and second shifts, weekend rotation, and holiday rotation. Premium pay is provided for working holidays.
