Position Overview
Aptive Resources is in search of a dedicated Psychiatric/Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized nursing care for individuals facing mental health challenges. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to assess, manage, and support patients through their mental health journeys. Your responsibilities will encompass therapeutic interventions, medication oversight, and patient education aimed at fostering recovery and enhancing overall well-being.

Work Schedule: Nurses may be scheduled for eight (8), ten (10), or twelve (12)-hour shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status assessments, to determine patients' mental health requirements, symptoms, and risk factors. Collaborate with psychiatrists and psychologists to create tailored care plans.
  • Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient responses, and evaluate for any side effects or adverse reactions. Provide education to patients and their families regarding medication use and adherence.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Implement various therapeutic strategies, including individual and group therapy, behavioral management, and crisis intervention. Create a safe and supportive environment that encourages effective communication and emotional support.
  • Education for Patients and Families: Inform patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment alternatives, coping strategies, and available community resources. Offer guidance on lifestyle changes and stress management techniques to aid in long-term recovery.
  • Collaborative Care: Work alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. Participate in team meetings and treatment planning to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise and timely records of patient assessments, care plans, and interventions in electronic health record systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and confidentiality standards.
  • Crisis Intervention: Evaluate and address psychiatric emergencies. Employ de-escalation techniques and coordinate referrals to appropriate psychiatric services when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state.
  • Certification in CPR/BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program recognized by the appropriate state agency.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to collaborative patient care.
  • Ability to pass any required government background checks.
