Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct issue examinations using extensive and specialized knowledge of engineering and valuation methods, practices, and investigative audit techniques.
  • Provide technical engineering expertise and analysis to support the identification, development, and resolution of engineering and valuation issues.
  • Conduct field investigations of real and personal property and of documentary and accounting records of individuals and business organizations.
  • Value real and personal property using generally accepted valuation principles, including market data, income, and cost approaches to valuation.
  • Review and investigate engineering features of generally substantial and complex engineering issues on tax cases using general engineering principles.
Requirements
  • Four (4) year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher professional engineering degree.
  • Thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
  • One (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
