Field Engineer

Calista Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer to join our team. As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for performing general construction duties as part of our STG construction crew in extreme Alaskan conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain first-level quality assurance to confirm installation of all work is in accordance with plans, specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Support Project Foreman in project documentation, including timesheet coding, approval, and on-time submission to the Main Office.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, including timelines, project phases, and activities, using Critical Path Management techniques and company-designated software programs.
- Determine materials for procurement and monitor the material procurement process to ensure timeliness to support project needs.
- Receive and expedite incoming and outgoing freight from project sites.
- Assist Project Foreman in hiring local labor forces per project needs and under adherence of Company Local Hire Policy.
- Document and propose solutions for various field issues or field interfaces that may arise during execution of work.
- Assist with project health, safety, and environmental requirements, including learning to write and assist with revising company compliance plans.
- Learn and develop company Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and administer site SWPPP as needed.
- Assist with and type written correspondence as needed.
- Assist with/learn project estimating and maintain a daily diary for record of project construction, including photographs and video logs.
- Maintain and organize office space and field office.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction preferred but may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for related project management experience.
- One or more years of related project experience, including budget preparation, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
- Work-related experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and project management software.
- Prefer prior work experience in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of remote Alaska logistics and construction practices strongly preferred.
- Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
STG's work sites are high-paced with high performance standards and may be located anywhere in Alaska.
Field employees will be required to travel by plane to remote conditions and live in tight quarters with other employees currently assigned to the same job.
In order to perform the duties of this job, the employee will need to be able to do heavy physical labor for 10-12 hours per day, seven days a week, often for many weeks at a time.
