Life Safety Systems Technician

Position Summary:
Utilize your expertise in maintenance and repair at Vallen as a Service Technician II, specializing in Life Safety Services within the Vallen Safety Services Group. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation and/or inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of life safety systems and equipment for established clients on a scheduled basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to service requests.
- Conducting systems testing and inspections in accordance with established standards.
- Performing on-site emergency troubleshooting and maintenance of customer Life Safety Systems.
- Identifying regulatory compliance issues and discrepancies.
- Preparing accurate and timely Technician worksheets (TWS) and reports.
- Installing various Life Safety Systems.
- Delivering exceptional customer service in the installation and/or ITM of Life Safety Systems, including but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical Systems, Clean Agent Systems, Special Hazard Systems, and Water-Based Systems.
- Ensuring accurate and complete testing and repair documentation for proper invoicing.
- Providing customers with all necessary documentation upon servicing equipment.
- Possessing basic knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to assigned duties, such as State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations.
- Consistently demonstrating safe work practices.
- Assisting in logistics, including shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, and matching purchase orders to sales orders for processing.
- Utilizing company-provided assets responsibly, including Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, BR Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card, and/or Credit Card.
- Maintaining proper care of all assets as per Vallen policies.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 certifications (manufacturing/state) in a fire protection-related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in Fire Alarm Ext or WBS Construction.
- RME-I certification (if applicable).
- Mechanically inclined with strong communication skills.
- Relevant experience in the installation and/or maintenance, repair, and service of life safety systems and equipment.
- Ability to repair and service equipment provided by Vallen.
- Maintain a minimum productivity rate of 90% within 60 days.
- Valid Motor Vehicle License with a clean driving record.
- Commercial Driver's License required for transporting hazardous materials.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools.
- Capable of completing repairs and maintenance tasks accurately and promptly.
- Able to provide assistance, advice, and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
- Support warehouse personnel with order fulfillment as needed.
- Keep all certifications and licenses current through ongoing education as required.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, and quality instructions).
- Must successfully pass Drug and Alcohol screening, Physical examination, and background check.

- Working conditions will vary, with service work performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Potential exposure to hazardous environments while working in a plant, necessitating safety precautions and appropriate equipment.
- Ability to work in varying climatic conditions (cold/heat) during day or night shifts.
- Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly.
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24 feet high.
- Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
- Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.
- Engaging in bending, climbing, and stooping as necessary for accessing equipment for repair and service.
- Pass all test requirements to be approved for offshore work (if applicable).
