Salary: $38,994.72 - $52,405.20 Annually

About the Job

The Public Transportation Operator is responsible for operating a bus safely and efficiently, transporting passengers on a regular scheduled route throughout facility grounds and to other locations as directed. You will also be responsible for giving direction and information, assisting passengers boarding and departing the bus, and rendering first aid when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a light bus carrying patients, employees, and visitors on a regular scheduled route throughout facility grounds and to other locations as directed.
  • Gives direction and information, assists passengers boarding and departing the bus as required, and renders first aid when necessary.
  • Meet and deal courteously and effectively with the public.
  • Responsible for the service and regular maintenance schedule of the bus including the gas, oil, and tires.
  • Inspects the bus for mechanical conditions effecting safety of operation, makes minor repairs and reports major mechanical defects.
  • Cleans and washes the bus.
  • Operates other automotive equipment to pick up and deliver supplies and to transport specially equipped trailers.
  • Performs water and electrical utility hook up to trailers at destination.
  • Participates in the moving of supplies in warehouses or other buildings.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Six (6) months' experience in driving a bus or a truck of over 10,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight.
  • A valid California Class B Driver's License with special endorsement for passenger transport vehicles.
  • A basic first aid certificate from the American Red Cross or another recognized provider.
