Job Title: Police Records Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Police Records Specialist to join our team at the City of Puyallup, WA. As a Police Records Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining complex records and filing systems, entering data into computer systems, and providing general secretarial services to support the Police Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and filing systems
  • Enter data into computer systems, including Police Incident Reports and citations
  • Provide general secretarial services, including typing letters and reports
  • Assist with various departmental activities, including data entry and record maintenance
  • Exercise initiative, discretion, and attention to detail in performing duties
Requirements:
  • Two years of full-time clerical or office support work experience
  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and computer systems
  • Ability to learn and follow various City, State, and Federal rules and regulations
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including job-related computer hardware and software applications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of MS Windows software
  • Experience with police records management systems (RMS) or computer-aided dispatch systems (CAD)
  • One to two years of police records specialist or police department experience
Work Environment:

The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise levels. The position requires sitting for long periods, handling paperwork, and using computer equipment. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
