A competitive compensation package of $35 - $38 per hour is offered to the successful candidate for this School LPN position at Amergis. This role involves providing essential nursing services in a school setting, ensuring the health and wellbeing of students.

Job Description

The 1:1 School LPN/LVN identifies and addresses student health issues, provides instruction on general wellbeing and disease prevention, and monitors physical conditions in the school setting. The nurse refers students to appropriate resources as needed and performs their duties in compliance with state education codes and their scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides first aid care and medically prescribed services
  • Maintains security of school health supplies and medication
  • Provides follow-up evaluations on students as required
  • Corresponds with parents on health needs of children
  • Records immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data
  • Identifies abnormal growth and development, symptoms of disease and discusses with parents
  • Develops and maintains health records on students
  • Develops positive working relationships
  • Supports student medical needs during transport as applicable

Requirements

  • Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
  • One year prior professional nursing experience in a school setting preferred
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Current BLS card
  • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
  • Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
  • Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
  • Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
  • Understands the school organization and the community served
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
