Position Overview:
The City of Fremont is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Sustainability Program Manager within the Community Development Department.

Department Mission:
The Community Development Department is committed to transforming Fremont into a sustainable and strategically urban community as outlined in the City's General Plan.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Sustainability Program Manager, you will:
1. Provide expert guidance to developers, contractors, businesses, and residents on sustainability initiatives.
2. Advocate for the preservation of open spaces and the development of high-quality urban residential and commercial projects.
3. Enhance the variety of housing options available to the community.

Essential Functions:
- Plan, organize, and oversee various programs within the Environmental Services Division, focusing on integrated waste management, urban runoff, and sustainability efforts.
- Manage strategic initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Represent the City in intergovernmental committees and provide staff support.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for assigned program areas.
- Prepare and administer budgets, including cost estimates and justifications for resources.
- Lead the development of the City’s Climate Action Plan and promote sustainable practices across departments.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in environmental science, urban planning, or a related field, along with significant experience in sustainability and environmental management. A Master's degree may substitute for some experience.

Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- The ability to analyze complex data and prepare clear reports.
