Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated AmeriCorps Public Health Member to join our team at Volunteers of America-MN. The successful candidate will work closely with our staff and community members to promote health and well-being services in affordable housing sites throughout Minneapolis.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in health promotion, education, and outreach while making a positive impact on the lives of underserved individuals.

We offer a competitive $17,800.00 living stipend per year, as well as access to various benefits, including student loan deferment and interest forbearance, child care assistance, and a Segal Education Award upon completion of service.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate a passion for public health and community development.

Responsibilities:
* Market and promote health and well-being services to residents within assigned buildings
* Assist in leading group health sessions to support residents' self-management of chronic conditions
* Partner with current VOA-MN CHWs to provide individualized and sustained health promotion services
* Help coordinate and assist residents and staff at on-site events featuring Community Paramedics and/or Community Pharmacists
* Conduct introductory and ongoing visits and calls with residents to set health goals and connect them with resources they need
* Coach residents to get the most out of their doctor's appointments and attend important doctor appointments with residents
* Collaborate with other VOA services and community professionals to ensure a wide network of resources is available for program participants

Qualifications:
+ Must be 18 years of age or older by two weeks prior to your start date
+ Must have at least a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent by your start date
+ Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
+ Must pass mandatory National Service Criminal History Checks
+ Must not have served four or more prior terms of service with AmeriCorps State or National
+ Must speak, read, and write English fluently
+ Must have experience with professional computer skills and confidence using computers
