Key Responsibilities
  • Counsel patients and/or family members on insurance options and payment arrangements
  • Contact patients with outstanding balances to discuss payment options and arrangements
  • Review accounts to determine statement, payment, and collection history
  • Work collection reports to identify and address high-priority accounts
  • Coordinate with collection agencies to verify balance and account information
  • Maintain accurate records of payments and necessary insurance transfers
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Special consideration given to applicants with formal schooling or working knowledge of medical terminology, electronic processing, and collection procedures
  • Minimum two years of previous experience with public contact required, with a focus on telephone collection work in a hospital or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and proficiency in PC procedures, including hospital collection applications
  • Knowledge of assigned third-party billing requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, and commercial insurance
