Key Responsibilities- Counsel patients and/or family members on insurance options and payment arrangements
- Contact patients with outstanding balances to discuss payment options and arrangements
- Review accounts to determine statement, payment, and collection history
- Work collection reports to identify and address high-priority accounts
- Coordinate with collection agencies to verify balance and account information
- Maintain accurate records of payments and necessary insurance transfers
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Special consideration given to applicants with formal schooling or working knowledge of medical terminology, electronic processing, and collection procedures
- Minimum two years of previous experience with public contact required, with a focus on telephone collection work in a hospital or related field
- Knowledge and proficiency in PC procedures, including hospital collection applications
- Knowledge of assigned third-party billing requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, and commercial insurance
