Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Soliant. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and implement tailored IEPs that cater to each student's unique needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Modify General Education Curriculum: Adjust the general education curriculum to accommodate students with different learning abilities, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with School Staff and Parents: Work closely with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to enhance student learning and development, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Employ Instructional Strategies and Resources: Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to promote student success, including technology and assistive devices.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Student Progress: Regularly monitor and evaluate student progress, making necessary instructional adjustments to ensure students meet their learning goals.
  • Maintain a Safe and Positive Classroom Atmosphere: Create a safe and positive classroom environment that promotes learning, respect, and inclusivity.
  • Participate in IEP Meetings and Parent-Teacher Conferences: Participate in IEP meetings and parent-teacher conferences to ensure effective communication and collaboration with parents and school staff.
  • Keep Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and detailed records of student performance and progress, including IEPs and progress reports.
  • Stay Informed about Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in special education, ensuring you provide the highest quality instruction and support to students.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid North Carolina Professional Educators License in Special Education (K-12); must meet North Carolina Department of Public Instruction requirements.
  • Certifications: Appropriate teaching certification in Special Education; additional certifications as mandated by the state of North Carolina.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with students with disabilities preferred; experience in developing and implementing IEPs beneficial.
  • Skills: Comprehensive understanding of special education laws and regulations; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team-oriented environment; strong organizational and time management skills; patience, creativity, and a strong commitment to supporting students with special needs.
