Security Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Armed Security Officer to join our team at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, physicians, and employees.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all duties and assignments of an Armed Security Officer, including standing positions, dealing with emergency situations, and reporting to and assisting supervisors.
- Patrol the interior and exterior grounds of the hospital to protect property and provide a safe environment for all individuals.
- Respond to emergency situations and alert local authorities when required.
- Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic on hospital property and issue passes to visitors after hours.
- Assist medical staff with restraining and/or detaining specific types of hospital patients.
- Enforce and follow all Security and St. Tammany Parish Hospital policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of armed security related experience is required.
- Certified by a State certified, recognized, and St. Tammany Parish Hospital approved firearms, handcuffing, and/or law enforcement training entity.
- No felony convictions.
- Privately owned cellular phone for emergencies and on-call events.
- Annual firearm training, written tests, and qualification on the firing range.
- Eligible and willing to work 12 hour shifts, day and/or night to include weekends.
- Follow the Use of Force policy and all St. Tammany Parish Hospital procedures.
- State Firearms Certification, valid and current state issued drivers license.
- Maintain and provide proof of automobile insurance (at his/her own expense) in amounts which meet at least the minimum liability coverage limits required by the state of their residence.
- Pass a criminal and driving record background checks prior to hiring and annually thereafter.
- Prior certification or registration with the Louisiana State Board of Private Security examiners.
- Prior experience as a Police Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified law enforcement officer, federal law enforcement officer, military enforcement officer, or armed hospital security officer.
- Training and experience with conflict resolution and ability to de-escalate hostile situations.
The Armed Security Officer must possess good physical health and be able to perform the following tasks:
- Standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time.
- Lifting at least 100 pounds.
- Working with a moderate level of noise.
