We are currently in search of a proactive Materials Manager to spearhead the coordination of our procurement and planning teams. This critical role is essential for ensuring efficient material acquisition to support our production goals and fulfill customer delivery expectations. The Materials Manager will be responsible for overseeing corporate inventory strategies, managing inventory valuation, and executing all purchasing and planning transactions within our ERP system.
Key Responsibilities:
Main Job Accountability:
- Identify and evaluate suppliers, ensuring robust relationships are documented and maintained.
- Track and enhance supplier delivery performance, including those providing engineering prototype deliveries.
- Advise on significant material purchases based on projected shifts in pricing or delivery conditions.
- Investigate and resolve daily purchase price variances (PPV), identifying root causes and proposing actionable solutions.
- Maintain accurate supplier records within the ERP system and promptly address any supplier-related challenges.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers to address quality, delivery, and quantity issues.
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance protocols (ISO) in all purchasing and planning activities.
- Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
- Optimize inventory investments to align with organizational objectives.
- Assess inventory items for potential obsolescence and recommend necessary actions.
Additional Job Accountabilities:
- Conduct visits to supplier facilities to enhance operational insights.
- Authorize purchase agreements and transactions exceeding $5,000.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new products and processes.
- Set planning timelines in accordance with inventory management policies.
What We're Looking For:
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in procurement or production management.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or production management roles.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with PC applications and ERP systems.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, characterized by transparency and authenticity.
- Strong interpersonal and persuasive capabilities.
- Team-oriented leadership qualities with a proactive approach to achieving objectives.
- Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative environment.
- Robust problem-solving skills, with experience in conflict resolution within centralized and matrix organizational structures.
