Job Overview:


Johns Hopkins Hospital is in search of a proficient and committed Physician Assistant specializing in General Surgery for overnight acute care to become a vital part of our distinguished surgical department.

The Physician Assistant (PA) will deliver outstanding medical services to patients within the general surgery department during night shifts, collaborating with a diverse team of healthcare professionals to uphold the utmost standards of patient care.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform thorough evaluations of patients in the general surgery unit, including comprehensive history assessments, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.

2. Formulate and execute personalized care strategies in partnership with surgeons, intensivists, and other medical staff.

3. Administer advanced clinical care, encompassing post-operative management, wound treatment, and additional necessary interventions.

4. Track patient recovery, modifying treatment plans based on clinical observations and patient feedback.

5. Address emergencies and provide critical care assistance as required.

6. Inform patients and their families about surgical processes, post-operative care, and discharge protocols.

7. Work closely with the surgical team to guarantee seamless care from admission to discharge and follow-up.

8. Engage in quality enhancement projects and clinical research initiatives.

9. Maintain precise and comprehensive patient documentation in line with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.

2. Valid licensure as a Physician Assistant in the relevant state.

3. National certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C).

4. At least 2 years of experience in general surgery or critical care settings.

5. Advanced clinical competencies in surgical care, including post-operative management and emergency interventions.

6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

7. Capability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

8. Dedication to delivering compassionate and patient-focused care.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

2. Certification in Surgical Nursing or a related specialty.

3. Proficiency in multiple languages.

Working Conditions:
Full-time role with overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and high-stress scenarios.

Compensation:
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, with a sign-on bonus contingent on a two-year commitment.
