Job Title: Physician Assistant II - Specialty Cardiac OR (PRN)

Job Overview:
Johns Hopkins HealthCare is in search of a proficient and dedicated Physician Assistant II to enhance our Specialty Cardiac Operating Room (OR) team on a PRN (as needed) basis. The selected Physician Assistant (PA) will deliver exceptional medical care by first assisting in cardiac surgical procedures, collaborating with a team of esteemed cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in a range of cardiac surgical operations, including but not limited to open-heart surgery, valve repair/replacement, and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
  • Conduct pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, which encompass history taking, physical assessments, and the ordering/interpretation of diagnostic examinations.
  • Formulate and execute personalized care strategies in partnership with cardiac surgeons and other healthcare team members.
  • Administer advanced clinical care, which includes wound management, suturing, and other essential procedures.
  • Monitor patient recovery, modifying treatment plans based on clinical observations and patient feedback.
  • Engage in surgical rounds and multidisciplinary team discussions to guarantee cohesive and comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding surgical processes, recovery expectations, and discharge protocols.
  • Maintain precise and comprehensive patient documentation in line with hospital standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Contribute to quality enhancement initiatives and clinical research endeavors as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.
  • Valid licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland.
  • National certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac surgery or a closely related field.
  • Advanced clinical competencies in cardiac surgical care, including first assisting in the OR.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Capability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Dedication to delivering compassionate and patient-centered healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Bilingual capabilities.
Working Conditions:
  • PRN (as needed) position with flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and high-stress scenarios.
