Process Development Engineer I, Purification

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Development Engineer I, Purification to join our Pre-Clinical Manufacturing and Process Development (PMPD) team. As a key member of our Purification Development group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing viral clearance studies to ensure the safety of biotechnology products throughout the product development cycle.
Key Responsibilities- Design and lead multiple viral clearance projects with supervision
- Develop and qualify scale-down models for viral inactivation, chromatography, and membrane filtration unit operations
- Travel to external laboratories (20-25%) to execute viral clearance studies in accordance with GLP
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups to coordinate study logistics
- Summarize studies and results in electronic laboratory notebooks, technical reports, and regulatory filings
- Present work at group and department meetings
- Review protocols, reports, risk assessments, and other technical documents
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and instrumental/experimental problems
- Stay current with the latest scientific and engineering developments in the field by reading the current literature and attending seminars and conferences
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Biochemistry
- 3+ years of experience with BS and 0-3 years of experience with MS in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- Strong fundamental understanding of various protein purification techniques
- Experience with Downstream Development and equipment such as Akta Explorer/Avant, Akta Pilot, BioProcess Skid, Disc Stack Centrifuge, Depth filtration, Tangential flow filters, Normal flow filters, Chromatographic columns, HPLC, UPLC, Diafiltration skid, Raman Spectroscopy, Laminar Flow Hood, Chemical Fume hood, Empower, Unicorn, PI Historian, JMP, LIMS, Spotfire, RPES, ELN
