Utility Locator Technician

Benchmark, a division of National Underground Group, is seeking a skilled Utility Locator Technician to join our team. As a key member of our damage prevention solutions team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of underground utilities during excavation projects.
Responsibilities- Locate and mark underground facilities using mechanical and technical equipment, including telephone lines, electrical power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines.
- Communicate effectively with managers, excavation crews, and homeowners to discuss locate issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Interpret job order tickets and respond accordingly to meet customer needs.
- Read maps and blueprints to accurately locate utilities and determine efficient routes for locate operations.
- Remove and replace manhole lids as needed.
- Willingness to learn and receive instructor-led training for locator certification.
- Ability to drive local roads, work outdoors, and operate independently.
- Ability to perform locate duties before or after normal business hours when on call.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to access restricted and/or controlled areas, such as federal installations.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to use a computer to complete documentation and receive/send email.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk various types of terrain in and around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
