Job Summary

As a Certified Medication Aide at UTMB Health, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and assisting with medication distribution in a correctional setting. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of underserved patients while working in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document patient data, including vital signs, height and weight, and intake and output.
  • Perform Point of Care Testing and report results.
  • Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse, including bathing, oral suctioning, and wound care.
  • Provide medication assistance, including distributing and documenting medications.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable facility environment, including obtaining and storing medications and supplies.
  • Enter medication compliance into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate in in-service orientation and continuing education classes to meet ACA standards.
Work Environment

As a Certified Medication Aide at UTMB Health, you will work in a clean and safe medical facility within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. You will be exposed to a variety of conditions, including noise, odors, and cramped work space. You will also be required to lift heavy and awkward objects, and to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements
  • High school or GED equivalent.
  • Current Texas Certified Medication Aide permit.
