Key Responsibilities
Signal Support Systems Specialists are tasked with the integration of communication systems and networks. Their duties include:
- Executing signal support functions and performing unit-level maintenance on authorized communication equipment.
- Installing, operating, and maintaining radio and data distribution systems.
Advanced personnel in this role will also:
- Supervise and train fellow Soldiers.
- Maintain and install signal support systems and terminal devices.
- Provide technical assistance and training for automation and communications equipment.
- Prepare maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support.
- Conduct preventative maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles.

As a Signal Support Systems Specialist, you will gain knowledge in:

Valuable Attributes

Through comprehensive training, you will acquire the expertise necessary for a rewarding civilian career in the communications and electronics sector. Additional study and two years of electronics experience may lead to certification as an Associate Certified Electronics Technician.
Compensation and Benefits
In the Army National Guard, you will earn while you learn. The training program includes:
- 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop foundational Soldiering skills.
- 18 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) that combines hands-on and classroom instruction.
