Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at USG. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for providing advanced skillsets and indirect leadership of the Electrical Department. Your areas of responsibility will include supervision and planning coverage of Electricians, maintenance, repair, and installation work related to the plant's electrical, motor, and drive systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and plan coverage of Electricians to ensure proper and efficient utilization of equipment, materials, and manpower.
  • Maintain safe working conditions for all departmental reports and ensure their compliance with Plant Safety Programs.
  • Assist with scheduling, time management, and record keeping within the department and responsible for these items when acting Foreman.
  • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive departmental responsibility program contributing to the total plant objective of maximum profit through low delay, improved productivity, and maintenance cost control.
  • Assist Foreman with compliance with local, state, Factory Mutual, and Company environmental and safety regulations.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to meet safety goals.
  • Read and follow basic P&ID's, electrical one-lines, and schematics.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of morale within the department to aid productivity and employee retention.
  • Display advanced competencies in communication, decision making/problem solving, developing others, energy, drive, ambition, job knowledge, leadership, managing conflict/negotiation, managing resources, and work quality.
  • Experience with machine control circuitry and motor control design, including safety circuits and adherence to NEC and NFPA codes.
Requirements
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician in the State of Michigan.
  • 2+ Years Industrial Electrical Experience.
  • USG Safety Model Program, OSHA, FM Global, and Environmental compliance experience preferred.
  • USG RPM program experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Residential voltage systems (115/230 volt).
  • Industrial voltage systems (3 phase 480/2400/13800 volt).
  • Power generation.
  • Distribution, transformers, ground detection systems.
  • Power relays and metering.
  • Switchgear, circuit breakers, fusing.
  • Motor enclosures, starters, heaters, pilot circuitry.
  • Pushbuttons, timers, and devices.
  • Induction and DC motors.
  • Conductor, protection, and conduit sizing.
  • VFD setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Power transmission (belting, couplings, etc.).
  • Power factor correction capacitors.
  • Wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic basic operation.
  • Preferred experience with process control: PID Control Loops, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Preferred experience with safety systems: Integration with legacy systems, Upgrades to existing, Basic knowledge of codes.
