Business Manager II

Lamar University is seeking a highly skilled Business Manager II to join our Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in aligning our division's financial and administrative policies and procedures with university objectives.
You will work closely with the Vice President of Student Affairs and Strategic Initiatives to establish systems that ensure compliance and act as a steward of university resources. Your duties will include overseeing and coordinating business operations, including budget preparation and control, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, travel, business resources, cashiering, and auxiliary enterprises.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Management and Compliance: Manage daily financial activities, including budget preparation and control, accounting, purchasing, and business planning and management, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures, state, and federal regulations.
- Reporting and Systems Implementation: Coordinate, design, and implement internal financial reporting systems and management information systems in coordination with the automated financial reporting systems of the university.
- Contract Negotiation and Cash Management: Evaluate and/or negotiate contracts for the purchase of services in coordination with the university purchasing department, and manage cash, cash-related receipts, accounts receivable and credit and collection functions.
- Policy Development and Auxiliary Services: Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the Division, and develop or assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, higher education, student affairs, or related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in student affairs, higher education administration, or a related field.
