About the Role

Overview

UW Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer III to join our IT Software Engineering team. As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of technical solutions designed to support employee interactions with members and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in planning efforts to re-platform applications in Azure
  • Manage sizing and capacity considerations for the Azure environment
  • Implement enhanced monitoring solutions for applications under your control, ensuring rapid issue identification and resolution for optimal performance and uptime
  • Strategically determine which blocks or groups of applications and databases should move together
  • Spearhead the development of a robust CI/CD pipeline, with potential inclusion of a feature flag framework
  • Streamline deployment processes to limit security permissions on developers while granting specific permissions to system users during deployments
  • Contribute to the development of the Integration Platform/Services Layer, fostering seamless integration of systems and services
  • Collaborate in identifying opportunities for refactoring at both the application and database layers, enhancing overall system efficiency
  • Assist in the adoption of 'database as code' approaches, promoting consistency, reliability, and scalability in database management
  • Implement task automation strategies to streamline repetitive tasks
  • Utilize version control systems to minimize human errors and configuration issues, ensuring more stable and reliable software deployments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements
  • 5+ years of DevOps or equivalent software engineering experience
  • Expert knowledge of automated build, testing, and deployment tools and software development tools and technologies
  • Proficient in one or more scripting languages
  • Fluent in one or more query languages
  • Version control systems experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience working with or exposure to the following tools: Azure, Azure DevOps (ADO), Terraform, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Grafana, OpsGenie, C#, .NET, Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services), PowerShell, Python
