Job Title: Registered Nurse

OrthoIndy Hospital South, located in Greenwood, Indiana, is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Preoperative and Postoperative Period (PPOP) PACU department.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse PPOP PACU provides high-quality patient care and service during the preoperative and postoperative periods, integrating and making nursing judgments pertaining to the patient's condition on a routine and emergency basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Monitor and assess patient condition, reporting any unusual symptoms, occurrences, or discrepancies to the manager and appropriate physicians.
  2. Complete treatments and procedures as ordered and assigned by the physician, consistent with patient complexity and commensurate with the skill, knowledge, and training of the individual.
  3. Provide care safely, with adequate quality, quantity, and timeliness, and according to applicable standards.
  4. Admit patients to all areas within pre and post-operative and post-anesthesia services, and receive and review pre-post-operative reports.
  5. Set up, operate, and monitor the use of various systems, equipment, and instrumentation required for patient care.
  6. Review and initiate physician orders, administer medication, parenteral fluids, and treatment as needed.
  7. Provide instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed, distributing educational materials as appropriate.
  8. Maintain medication and nursing documentation within the patient record.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and development levels of patients served.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • 2-4 years Registered Nurse experience in any of the following units required: PACU, ICU, or ER. 4-6 years of experience preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required.
  • BLS, ACLS certification required; PALS preferred.
