Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Radiology and the Manager, the MRI Imaging Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting MRI radiologic technologists during imaging procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of MRI technologists, the Imaging Support Specialist will be an integral part of the Radiology Team, providing essential support. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the confirmation of patient appointments and initiating the preliminary safety screening process.
- Helping to schedule patients effectively to optimize MRI table usage and ensure a smooth transition between patients.
- Facilitating patient movement on and off the MRI table and preparing necessary equipment such as coils.
- Providing transport assistance when required and delivering MRI-compatible IV pumps to patient floors.
- Updating families on the status of their children during procedures, particularly those involving anesthesia.
- Maintaining cleanliness of equipment and ensuring in-room supplies are adequately stocked.
Required Skills
The ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking abilities to thrive in a fast-paced MRI environment. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Proficiency in computer systems relevant to Radiology Information Management is also necessary.
Flexibility to cover various shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, is expected.
Qualifications
Essential Education and Experience:
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent educational attainment is required.
- A minimum of six months of experience in a pediatric setting is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification is required upon hire.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Competency in providing care to a diverse pediatric population.
- Ability to efficiently operate CR, RIS, PACS, and CD burning equipment.
