Position Overview:
The Student Financial Support Specialist plays a vital role in the Office of Financial Aid, dedicated to fostering student success through exceptional customer service across various channels, including phone, lobby, and ticketing systems. This position is crucial for the efficient review and processing of Federal Student Aid and state grants and scholarships.

The selected candidates will become experts in verification processes and all facets of financial aid, compliance, Title IV funding, and packaging. They will report to Senior Financial Aid Advisors based on their areas of expertise.


Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive support and financial counseling regarding all aspects of financial aid.
- Serve as the area expert for financial aid, continuously improving practices through optimal use of relevant software applications.
- Collaborate with fellow Financial Aid Advisors to facilitate cross-training and necessary testing.
- Develop expertise in financial aid resources and application sources, including federal and state aid programs.
- Enhance understanding of IRS tax documents, federal regulations, and compliance obligations.
- Analyze financial aid documents submitted by students and parents to assist in ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Work closely with Student Accounts and Bursar Staff to aid in the collection of student payments and confirm awards.
- Maintain communication with senior financial aid staff to ensure alignment with ongoing operational needs.
- Monitor professional organizations and listservs for updates that may affect financial aid practices.

- Participate in recruitment and campus events, assisting with activities related to financial aid awareness and support.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Comfort with public speaking and presenting to diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to foster inclusive and equitable relationships within a diverse community.
- Commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with integrated business application systems that support financial processes.
- Experience in higher education, particularly in financial aid.
