Position Summary:

The Head of IT Infrastructure Engineering is tasked with providing strategic guidance, establishing, implementing, and overseeing best practices for IT Infrastructure and Technology across Oneida Innovations Group. This role involves assessing, defining, and recommending optimal technology solutions that align with the business objectives of O.I.G.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage multiple technical teams, including Network Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, System Engineering, and Database Management. This position is responsible for the strategic planning and ongoing enhancement of the organization's IT systems and voice/data network infrastructure.
  • Provide a long-term vision and strategy for database, system, telecommunications, and network architecture, support, and management.
  • Ensure all team members are aligned with the overarching IT vision, strategy, and objectives.
  • Develop innovative systems, telecommunications, and network services to accommodate new programs, facilities, and evolving business needs.
  • Facilitate seamless collaboration among all groups within Oneida Innovations Group IT.
  • Ensure each team is equipped with the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.
  • Deliver presentations at the executive level to secure project approvals and effectively communicate technology needs to infrastructure requirements.
  • Review and approve budgets for each technical team.
  • Assess and recommend technical standards.
  • Identify and propose strategic directions for servers, hosts, and system infrastructure, including systems monitoring and management practices.
  • Address infrastructure issues promptly, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies.
  • Maintain technical familiarity with all core platforms utilized by O.I.G.
  • Proactively introduce new technologies to enhance business processes.
  • Anticipate potential applications for new technologies within the organization.
  • Mentor and assess the performance of team members.
  • Implement career development requirements for staff and monitor their growth and performance.
  • Maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment where business demands frequently shift priorities and timelines.
  • Encourage a collaborative team atmosphere, even under pressure to deliver results on critical business initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the information technology sector. A combination of 14 years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
  • At least 8 years of management experience in an engineering context.
  • Extensive experience managing large and complex budgets in a collaborative business environment.
  • Strong understanding and design skills in Network configuration, Systems configuration, Database and Application design, Network and Data Security design, disaster recovery, high availability, and Storage and Virtual environments.
  • Full certification in at least one core platform is required.
  • Familiarity with casino/hotel environments and the impact of business structure changes.
  • Knowledge of 24x7 operational requirements.
  • Understanding of project management skills, including project planning, execution, and detail orientation.
  • Awareness of upcoming trends in the industry and market.
  • Experience with security and compliance standards, including PCI, HIPAA, and SOX.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Understanding of network security, including Firewall design and deployment.
