Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Air Quality Division, including data entry, record-keeping, and document preparation.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of air quality policies and programs.
  • Collaborate with other sections and divisions to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public, responding to inquiries and providing guidance on air quality-related matters.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, policies, and procedures, and provide training and guidance to colleagues as needed.

Requirements

  • 2 years of general clerical experience, including keyboarding, word processing, and generating documents.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the historical impacts on marginalized and underrepresented communities, with a commitment to increasing knowledge of environmental justice and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Office products, as well as business connectivity software such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Experience with databases, including data entry, report generation, and data integrity maintenance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to switch priorities or projects seamlessly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, AFSCME represented position based out of DEQ's Headquarters office in Portland, Oregon. The successful candidate may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of one day a week in DEQ Headquarters. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, trainings, conferences, and public hearings.
