Job Overview

Role Summary:
The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for ensuring the quality, continuity, and appropriateness of health care services at the Marin City Health and Wellness Center (MCHWC). This role involves close collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer to provide clinical and administrative leadership, overseeing all provider staff and volunteers. The CMO ensures that patient care is delivered efficiently, effectively, and in a culturally competent manner, while also representing MCHWC to external agencies and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct primary medical care to patients.
  2. Welcome all patients and clients in a professional manner, whether in person or via phone.
  3. Design and maintain quality improvement and assurance programs related to patient care.
  4. Develop and approve treatment protocols.
  5. Consult with the Chief Executive Officer on clinical training needs for staff.
  6. Assist in formulating the Center's clinical policies and mission.
  7. Supervise medical staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  8. Manage clinical assignments, schedules, and leave approvals.
  9. Conduct medical chart reviews and audits.
  10. Address patient grievances regarding clinic operations.
  11. Contribute to the development of clinic plans and budget processes.
  12. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  13. Oversee the credentialing of clinic staff.
  14. Participate in various meetings and training sessions as required.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Includes oversight of the Behavioral Health Director, Director of Recovery & Homeless Services, Birth Center Director, Chiropractor, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, and Medical Assistant.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree with Board Certification in Family Practice.
  • Current medical license in California.
  • Valid DEA Certificate.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in outpatient health clinics or community health centers, especially with underserved populations.
  • Proven track record in developing quality improvement programs.
  • Experience in community health program administration and staff supervision.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Passionate about community health issues.

Skills:
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with strong verbal and written abilities. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to manage conflict effectively.

Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods. May require occasional bending, climbing, and lifting of up to 10 pounds.

Travel Requirements:
Frequent travel may be necessary for site visits and meetings.
