Lead Academic Coach for English Language Arts in Urban Schools

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Academic Coach for English Language Arts to join our team at Uncommon Schools Roxbury Prep. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive academic excellence, foster a love of reading and writing, and create a supportive community for students.
About the Role:
- Develop and implement comprehensive English language arts curricula that prioritize inclusive texts, diversity, and college-readiness.
- Cultivate a positive, growth-oriented classroom culture that encourages student agency and critical thinking.
- Collaborate with teachers to design and deliver high-quality instruction, differentiate for diverse learners, and analyze student progress.
- Promote school-wide initiatives that enhance literacy skills, parent engagement, and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership- Design and lead professional development workshops on best practices in ELA instruction, including text analysis, literacy strategies, and assessment techniques.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to teachers to improve instructional quality, content knowledge, and pedagogical skills.
- Conduct regular observations, offer constructive feedback, and support teacher growth through goal-setting and data-driven decision making.
- Analyze student performance data to identify areas of strength and weakness, inform instruction, and drive data-driven decision making.
- Develop and administer assessments to measure student progress, inform instruction, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Foster a positive, inclusive school climate that values diversity, equity, and social-emotional learning.
- Partner with parents, families, and community organizations to build relationships, promote literacy, and enhance student outcomes.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in ELA education, school leadership, and community engagement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in ELA teaching, coaching, or leadership roles, preferably in urban schools.
- Strong understanding of ELA curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment methods.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a competitive salary position ($57,000 - $89,000) with opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and career advancement.
