Job Title: Physics Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified Physics Instructor to join our part-time adjunct faculty pool at Kern Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of Physics and Astronomy courses, including introductory and advanced classes.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach Physics and Astronomy courses, including lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions
  • Develop and implement curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities
  • Participate in student recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities
  • Assess student learning outcomes and maintain subject matter currency
  • Use computer and multimedia technology to enhance teaching and learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement departmental and college-wide initiatives
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Physics, Astronomy, or Astrophysics
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Physics or Astronomy and Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Meteorology, or Geophysics
  • OR The equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching Physics and Astronomy courses at the community college level
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
