Excela Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiology Department Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Diagnostic Radiology department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of our radiology services, including the supervision of staff radiologic technologists and the development of procedures and protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of the Diagnostic Radiology department, including the supervision of staff radiologic technologists.
- Develop and implement procedures and protocols to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of radiology services.
- Confer with radiologists to determine proper imaging protocols and with department managers to determine proper procedures and guidelines.
- Develop and implement new forms as needed for operations and maintain records on equipment calibration and service.
- Provide for the safety of patients, other hospital employees, and visitors, and oversee daily QC and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Report any necessary equipment malfunctions to service providers and evaluate new products and equipment.
- Assist the manager in determining the value of new products and equipment to meet the needs of the department and make recommendations for capital purchases.
- Maintain or change patient and technologist schedules to provide accessibility and high-quality services, and prepare technologist schedules for review by department managers.
- Maintain department statistics and records required by federal, state, and local agencies, and assist in any necessary accreditations.
- Assist JCAHO and DOH inspections and assist department managers in the development of performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop cost-saving initiatives and better patient care initiatives, and oversee training, hiring, and education.
- Oversee the activities and assist with annual performance appraisals on diagnostic radiology staff, and assist in interviews for diagnostic radiology positions.
- Orient new employees to the department and maintain continuing education for staff.
- Oversee the PACS system and related functions, and assist the PACS coordinator in maintenance functions and daily operations.
- Completion of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology Program recognized by ARRT.
- Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
- Preferred qualifications include three years' experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist with credentials with ARRT.
The incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need, including rotating shifts, standby, on-call, and travel between Excela Health locations. The position requires regular, consistent, on-site, and timely attendance.
