Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine Linux server management activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, oversee upgrades and enhancements to laboratory and data center systems, including physical installation of server systems and associated components like networking and storage devices.
  • Collaborate with Network teams, Lab Computing, and end users.
  • Support network configurations, virtual machine migrations, and system setups.
  • Partner with project managers for specific assignments such as system IP or DNS modifications.
  • Ensure a secure laboratory environment through rigorous inventory management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of direct experience in the IT sector.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of expertise with Linux and/or data center hardware.
  • Proficient in computer diagnostics and installation, including hardware/software troubleshooting and networking.
  • Proven experience in installing server systems and related components.
  • Technical proficiency in Windows, Linux, WAN, firewalls, virtual machines, network storage, servers, DNS, and Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, network card installation, switches, routers, and similar hardware.
  • Understanding of data center power systems and cable management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IP-KVM and remote console products is a plus.
  • Must be able to lift 1U and 2U rack-mounted servers weighing up to 35 pounds and be familiar with pallet jacks and data center safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adhere to written instructions for hardware and software setups.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and provide effective solutions under pressure.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • Must possess outstanding communication skills.
  • Adaptable, able to shift focus from one task to address urgent issues.

Compensation: $43.00 per hour
