Public Health Nurse

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Public Health Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools, and other community or congregate care settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides nursing assessments, develops and implements care plans, and evaluates outcomes.
- Participates in public health emergencies and community health assessments.
- Works collaboratively with other health department agencies and community partners to support public health initiatives.
- Adheres to nursing directives, agency protocols, and guidelines.
- Practices within the realm of the Nurse Practice Act and related Acts governing health professionals and health laws.
Requirements
- Requires licensure as an RN in Virginia or a compact state.
- Requires BLS certification.
- Requires adherence to all safety policies, including a review of immunizations, driver safety policies, and all other state policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional study in health promotion or public health is preferred.
- Experience in a public health setting or one related to disease prevention and health promotion.
