Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Medical Assistant to join our team at King's Daughters. As a key member of our medical practice, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Nursing Care
    • Under the direct supervision of Physicians and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (APRNs), you will provide nursing care to patients, ensuring their needs are met and their health is optimized.
  • Manage Patient Flow
    • You will effectively manage patient movement throughout the medical practice, ensuring timely rooming, turnover, and patient flow, supporting physician and APRN efficiency.
  • Prepare Patients for Visits
    • You will prepare patients for physician and/or APRN visits by obtaining patient vitals, chief complaint, past medical history, medication history, and updates, and ensuring best practice alerts are addressed prior to the visit.
  • Gather Health Data
    • You will gather pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples, including collecting specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Provide Basic Patient Care
    • You will provide basic patient care as ordered, based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations, and document assessment and effectiveness and timeliness of care/intervention.
  • Execute and/or Assist in Prescribed Treatments
    • You will execute and/or assist in prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including administering prescribed medications and monitoring and documenting treatment progress and patient response.
  • Manage Nursing In-Basket Responsibilities
    • You will actively manage nursing in-basket responsibilities and perform registration duties as needed, providing teaching and educational material to patients and/or significant others as needed.
Requirements
  • Education/License/Certification/Other Requirements
    • You must be a graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing and maintain an active LPN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and/or Ohio.
    • Achieve and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • One year LPN experience is preferred.
Working Environment
  • You will work in a fast-paced medical practice environment, constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection, and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
  • You will be required to maintain a stationary position (standing or sitting) occasionally, walk and move about frequently, operate a computer and other equipment frequently, and use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices frequently.
  • You will be required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • You will be required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing constantly, and have specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
