Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Conductor/Engineer to join our team at Watco Transloading in Houston, TX. As a key member of our switching operations team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently controlling and coordinating train movements to facilitate the unloading and loading of railcars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret switching orders, railroad rules and regulations, and track warrants to operate locomotives safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and other yard workers via radio to ensure smooth switching operations.
  • Confer with train dispatchers to receive information and instructions concerning stops, delays, or oncoming trains.
  • Inspect locomotives before and after runs to detect damaged or defective equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of car numbers, origin, destination, and cargo.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Valid Dual Conductor/Engineer Certification or equivalent.
  • 5 years of conductor/engineer experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
