Job Summary

As a key member of our team at The Chefs' Warehouse, the Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our warehouse and delivery drivers. This includes coordinating route assignments, vehicle assignments, customer deliveries, and vendor pick-ups, as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and Supervise Daily Activities: Oversee the daily activities of warehouse and delivery drivers, including route assignments, vehicle assignments, customer deliveries, and vendor pick-ups.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with all USDOT requirements, as well as those of other regulatory bodies related to vehicle use and maintenance, safe operation of vehicles, and required medical certifications.
  • Train and Evaluate Personnel: Train warehouse and delivery drivers to required standards and complete periodic evaluations of driver performance.
  • Maintain Records and Schedules: Maintain USDOT-required driver files, work and duty schedules for warehouse and driver personnel, and ensure that vehicles are clean and meet maintenance standards and requirements.
  • Respond to Customer Complaints: Respond to and resolve customer complaints, including immediate problem-solving, coordinating response with appropriate sales personnel, and applying corrective action and/or discipline as required.
  • Investigate Accidents and Incidents: Execute all aspects of accident investigation and insurance reporting in coordination with the Operations Manager, other Company officials, or representatives of insurance interests as circumstances dictate.
  • Monitor and Analyze Operations: Monitor trip and dispatch logs and vehicle monitoring software for conformance with schedules and direct preparation and retention of dispatch and vehicle operations records and reports.
  • Gain Proficiency in Company Systems: Gain proficiency in the Company's primary sales processing software system as well as subordinate systems.
  • Drive Routes and Conduct Meetings: Drive routes during peak times and as needed to carry out the operation's delivery obligations, and conduct weekly meetings to inform staff of new procedures and other company-wide information.
Requirements
  • 1+ Year of Relevant Experience: 1+ year of relevant experience in transportation operations, logistics, or a related field.
