Research Internship - MENA Region

Free the Slaves is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to support our programming in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and analyze secondary research on modern slavery in the MENA region, focusing on prevalence, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen the response.
  • Create databases to host secondary data and clean and organize the data collected.
  • Analyze secondary data into relevant themes and identify key recommendations and reflections.
  • Design tools for the organization and visualization of research findings.
  • Write literature reviews, concept notes, and other outputs.
  • Present research findings to the Research Program Coordinator and the MENA Regional Manager.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with team members.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited college or university as a degree-seeking student.
  • Demonstrated history of excellence in studies and pursuit of or recipient of a degree in law, public policy, international relations, international development, human rights, or a relevant field.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated history of interest and/or involvement in the anti-slavery or human rights movement.
  • Familiarity with and prior experience engaging with research methodologies, particularly collecting, analyzing, and consolidating secondary data.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as a functioning knowledge of word processing with Microsoft Word.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable, with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
