Role: PRN Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts
- Day and Night shifts available
- Weekend shifts required
REPORTS TO: Charge Nurse, Unit Nurse Manager, Chief Nursing Officer
SUPERVISION: Oversees LPNs, Nurse Aides, and Unit Secretary within the Nursing Unit
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care consistently on the Nursing Unit during assigned shifts.
- Accountable for the efficient and safe operation of the Nursing Unit, ensuring departmental and organizational objectives are met.
- Ensures adherence to patient safety and organizational practices.
- Fosters positive public relations through interactions with patients, healthcare professionals, visitors, and staff.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures nursing tasks are performed safely, competently, and in a timely manner, including medication administration.
- Organizes and coordinates activities within the Nursing Unit.
- Assists in training and orienting new staff, ensuring they receive proper guidance.
- Maintains compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Collects and maintains departmental reports and records for administrative purposes.
- Implements unit-specific goals aligned with overall nursing and organizational objectives.
- Facilitates effective communication between the nursing unit and other departments to enhance patient care.
- Acts as a resource for unit staff, providing feedback on performance.
- Interacts positively and professionally with others.
- Collaborates effectively with team members, respecting their contributions.
- Ensures nursing standards and practices are upheld.
- Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes, adjusting care as necessary.
- Documents patient status and care accurately and comprehensively.
- Assesses patient and family needs, ensuring care is tailored to those needs.
- Serves as a liaison among personnel, medical staff, and other departments.
- Participates in required meetings and nursing committees.
- Encourages professional development among staff.
- Promotes a safe environment conducive to high-quality patient care.
- Protects patient confidentiality through appropriate communication practices.
- Monitors staff compliance with policies and reports any violations.
- Ensures practitioner orders are executed with sound nursing judgment.
- Works required shifts and may be on-call as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Associate Degree in Nursing, licensed to practice in the State of Kentucky.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of six months of relevant departmental experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
One or more years of relevant RN experience in a similar department.
