Job Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor is a key member of the Sheraton San Jose team, responsible for overseeing the administration and coordination of housekeeping functions in assigned sections. This role assumes all Housekeeping Manager functions in the absence of the manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect Room Attendant Performance: Conduct daily inspections to ensure Room Attendants meet productivity and quality standards.
  • VIP Room Inspections: In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all VIP rooms and report their availability to the Front Office, adhering to hotel standards.
  • Floor Closing Procedures: Oversee the closing of floors at the end of the day, ensuring Room Attendant carts are clean and restocked.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of daily assignments, signed off, and turned in to the Housekeeping Office on time.
  • Key Control: Ensure the secure management of keys.
  • Lost and Found: Handle items according to established standards.
  • Cleanliness and Orderliness: Monitor the cleanliness and organization of Room Attendant carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
  • Daily Assignments: Oversee the daily assignment of duties, ensuring Room Attendants and House Attendants carry a work assignment.
  • Communication: Maintain active communication with the Front Office and Engineering throughout the shift.
  • Progress Reports: Report on the progress of out-of-order rooms under the Housekeeping Department's supervision to the Guest Services Manager, according to standards.
  • Work Orders: Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance, forwarding them to Engineering and following up until completion.
  • Staff Training: Assist with the training of Housekeeping staff.
  • Cleaning Projects: Ensure the completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in a related field is helpful.
  • Experience: At least two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
  • Supervisory Experience: Previous supervisory responsibility is preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand during the entire shift.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.

Compensation: $22/hour
